The starting point for our work is to produce a lively theater in and for the region. The repertoire of the company covers various works of the ballet director Annette Göhre. Live music is used as often as possible, even compositions are commissioned. The ensemble does not differentiate between a solo and the group. Musicality and artistic imagination are important criteria for choosing ensemble members, as well as the power of performative expression and the ability to transform. The technical foundations of the dancers is classical dance; however, contemporary dance and forms of improvisation also play an important role in the artistic process.
Besides three ballet premiers in the season and an own repertoire, the ensemble is often again part of plays and musicals. Faith in the understanding and openness of the public has proven its worth and allows for a heartfelt relationship between the ballet ensemble and the audience, their emotions and experiences.
On the ensemble´s history
In 2000, the ballet ensembles of the Theater Plauen and the Theater Zwickau merged to become the Ballett Plauen-Zwickau. Ever since, the dancers have rehearsed mainly in Zwickau, but perform equally in both cities. From 1969 onwards, the ballet in Plauen was strongly influenced by Renate Tietze. Günther Buch laid the groundwork for the ensemble in Zwickau. Both established a strong foundation for the Plauen-Zwickau dramatic ballet tradition.
Biography
Annette Göhre received her education as a stage-dancer at the Staatliche Ballettschule Berlin and then became soloist at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Münich from 2000 to 2005. Her solo “Duette” received the 3rd prize for choreography at the 6th international Solo-Tanz-Theater Festival in Stuttgart in 2002. In the same year, she was honoured with the Bavarian Kunstförderpreis. From 2005 to 2015, Annette Göhre worked independently and produced around 20 choreographies for theaters at home and abroad. She likes crossing genres in her work. In this vein, together with Jan Adamiak she set the scene with the opera “Neither” at the musical theater in Revier to produce a short-film, “7am”, which received the 2nd prize at the 3rd international Choreographic Captures competition. In 2013, she created the choreography for “Parsifal” for the Salzburg Osterfestspiele. Since the season of 2015/16, Annette Göhrer has been ballet director at the Theater Plauen-Zwickau and produced, among others, the full-length pieces, “Der Feuervogel”, “Happy Birthday” and “Goldfisch-Variationen”.
